We are thrilled to announce our Student Profile of the Month!
Congratulations to Sequoiah Holbrook who has recently completed a Traineeship in BSB30120 – Certificate III in Business through NextGen Jobs and hosted to Consumer Affairs Victoria (Ballarat)
Below are the insights she shared about her training experience and how she has applied the knowledge she acquired to her professional life.
Q: What does your role entail?
A: My role has changed over the past 11 months of my business traineeship, in saying that my current role entails working with Consumer Affairs Victoria within the Ballarat GovHub. Some insight on my day-to-day duties involves performing online complaint case creation, looking after the case production email inbox, and taking on any other daily duties that may need to be attended to for the day. I have also just recently, before Christmas, spent a week being trained up on how to answer the phone lines for the Residential Tenancy Bond Authority and taking calls when they need an extra set of hands to help out with the line whilst I am still undertaking my traineeship
Q: What skills have you gained through your traineeship that you can directly apply into your workplace?
A: Throughout my experience as business trainee at Consumer Affairs Victoria, there has been a handful of skills that I have been able to learn and most importantly will be able to use in the current and any future workplaces as well. For one of the most important skills, I have been able to improve and work on, is that I have gained different methods and approaches on how to interact with customers and other employees relating their moods and temperaments all whilst being able to source the correct information for them. I have also been able to gain an ever-growing basic understanding of business and administrative services within the workplace, which I’d love to expand on in future opportunities.
Q: What aspects of your training have brought you the greatest enjoyment thus far?
A: A particular aspect that stands out the most throughout my training that I have been able to expand and provide now in my workplace, is being able to genuinely provide the necessary helpful services to and for our customers. I always endeavor to be emotionally open and engaged than to be closed and disengaged, both inside and outside the workplace.
Q: What advice can you give anyone who is thinking about undertaking a traineeship?
A: My advice for anyone looking at undertaking a traineeship is to look at how beneficial this may be for your future endeavors! Not only are you getting paid to complete a qualification, but you are gaining quality experience in a potential workplace and are also developing plenty of new skills or even improving on current skills that you may carry. This is definitely an opportunity I would recommend considering as this can get your foot in the door into any career line you are looking to take, it also provides so much room for you to learn and to personally experience hand in hand a working environment if you are new to the working lifestyle.
Q: How did you find working and training together at the same time, is it beneficial?
A: Working and training in the same timeframe seems like it would be tricky to multitask, however, I feel as though it’s been one of the most beneficial outcomes, as it allows hands on learning and work experience whilst completing your training modules. You can complete both stages of the traineeship throughout the working week without out trying to juggle different locations, traffic, and timeframes of start to finishes, its like a smooth sailing boat.
Q; How has your traineeship experience influenced your short-term and long-term career goals?
A: My time doing the Business traineeship has influenced both short-term and long-term career goals. I didn’t quite have a solid sense on what I wanted to pursue in any particular career path, however, to say simply, I have learnt that any career I want to experience or undertake I will, one way or another, require these basic business skills. So, it has opened so many doors for me with the potential of short-term or long-term opportunities its amazing and I am beyond grateful for undertaking this traineeship.
Q: Upon completion, do you plan to further your studies?
A: I have always been one to never back down on completing further studies, so I’d be more than happy to look further into completing higher studies beyond the completion of this traineeship.
Q: How did you find the working relationship between yourself and Integrity Business College?
A: Integrity Business College has single handily been one of the most supportive and understanding colleges I’ve gone through. Not only do they provide great courses to get you started, but they have such a caring and passionate energy in helping provide their students the most support needed to complete their courses for their traineeships.
Q: Would you recommend Integrity?
A: 100% I would recommend Integrity Business College, they helped me build new skills and a new understanding of business aspects, I will be forever grateful of the opportunity of completing this course through Integrity.
Sequoiah, your unwavering commitment, persistent dedication, and diligence have set you apart as an exceptional student. Congratulations on achieving this well-deserved milestone!
