Congratulations to George Thorogood!
George is completing ICT40120 – Certificate IV in Information Technology as a trainee with G-Force Recruitment and is hosted to Belmont Secondary College
Here are the insights he shared about his training experience and how he has applied the knowledge to his professional life.
Q: What does your role entail?
A: In my role as an IT Trainee, I am responsible for providing technical support to staff and students, this includes the troubleshooting of hard and software issues, the management of user accounts, while assisting with the management of our IT infrastructure.
Q: What skills have you gained through your traineeship that you can directly apply into your workplace?
A: Through my traineeship, I have gained valuable experience in the foundations of security, IT support, and the ability to problem solve effectively. I have had extensive experience with hardware repairs, troubleshooting software, and management of users. My communication skills have improved, this has been essential for explaining technical issues to users that do not have a technical background.
Q: What aspects of your training have brought you the greatest enjoyment thus far?
A: I have enjoyed the practical side of training. It is enjoyable and satisfying when solving real world problems and seeing the impact my work has on assisting me with my role in IT Support. Applying new skills and knowledge has been reward and a great motivator.
Q: What advice can you give anyone who is thinking about undertaking a traineeship?
A: A traineeship is a great introduction to the industry you are striving to join, in saying so, you must put your utmost effort into obtaining your goals. This is a great opportunity to gain experience while learning. Stay curious, ask questions, do your best.
Q: How has your traineeship experience influenced your short-term and long-term career goals?
A: My traineeship has only furthered my desire to pursue a career in IT. I have gained more confidence in the short-term in my technical skills and ability to assist users with their issues. In the long-term, I am considering the option of pursuing more advanced certifications.
Q: How did you find our Online Virtual training – is it something you would recommend?
A: I have found the Online Virtual Training to be effective. This method offers flexibility when balancing work and study. The content is engaging and organized well. The ability to learn at your own pace is an advantage over other methods of training. I would recommend Online Virtual Training, especially if you need to manage your time a little more efficiently.
Q: How did you find the working relationship between yourself and Integrity Business College?
A: My experience with Integrity Business College has been positive. The trainers have provided amazing support and guidance. The resources alone are invaluable information that have been extremely helpful and made the process smoother.
It’s been fantastic watching George progress through his traineeship and develop his skills in the workplace. We look forward to seeing where George goes in the future.
